1979 Trans Am Pro Touring

This car was 2nd Gen Engineering’s owner’s first Trans Am.  Saved from the crusher in 1995 and gradually returned back to the road in 1999.  Current owner purchased the car in 2010 when it was deemed that his 79 TA was too far gone to redo. With a plan set, this TA had its 2nd redo.  The build consisted of the following:

Full nut and bolt restoration

Hardtop to T Top roof swap

Body painted with a 2010 Mopar Toxic Orange with added gold flake

Pontiac 400 engine freshened up to approx. 375 HP

Tremec T56 Six speed Transmission

Trap door oil pan

Tri Y headers with full custom bent exhaust

Higher rate springs, Koni shocks, Solid body mounts, Subframe Connectors and Delrin bushings for all control arms and leaf springs.

Brakes changed to 13” Front & 12” rear Corvette C5/6 setup with internal parking brake

18” Rushforth Night train wheels

Gauges redone to look factory but with electronic internals and LED lighting

Interior remained but added new 700W 5 channel stereo

Owner now enjoys the car on his free time on the open roads. Another fun build.
